Recommendations - STEP 1: Submitting feedback and asking for recs

  • Mr. & Mrs. __________, how did you like my demo?

  • Great! Go ahead and pull out your cell phone because this is really important!

  • I would love some more feedback on our demo! I’m required to get it for my managers as proof that we completed the appointment.

  • And please, be honest - it’s the best way for them to help me improve.

  • Remember the app I had you download earlier today? Just go ahead and open it up on your phone

  • There are just a few more questions to answer really quick; after you submit your answers, you’ll see a big picture pop up.

  • Don’t close out of the app or anything just yet!

  • Just let me know when you submit that last answer, because there’s one more really important part.


After they complete the survey:

  • Thank you so much for that! I really, really, appreciate it. The only way for me to improve is to keep doing more demos and getting feedback.

  • The best part is I get paid every time I show Cutco, but I can only show it to people I’ve been personally recommended to.

    • Students: I’m trying to keep my schedule full in order to stay on track to completing 50 demos this fall. If I do that, I get a chance at winning a $500 scholarship.

  • So, what I need you to do is jot down the first 10-20 thousand people you can think of… (wait) I’m just kidding! Just 10-20 people who might be nice enough to help me out.

    • What’s really cool is you can help me out by becoming my sponsor!

    • When you give me 10 recommendations, you become a Sponsor. If you can give me 20, you become a Double Sponsor, and so on. Once I have 50 sponsors...

      • Students: I get a scholarship from my manager. I already have ________!

      • Non-Students: I get a free piece of CUTCO from my manager. I already have ________!

  • I’m not looking for people who you think would buy, just nice people like you willing to take a look. And seriously, thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it!

  • The best part is you don’t need to write anything down. The app can just let you select which contacts you want to recommend to me. They come straight to me, so I’m the only person who would be talking to them after you introduce me. It will only take a couple seconds.

  • Go ahead and press the “SHARE” button (wait)... then press “Grant Access” at the bottom (wait)... now press “OK”.

  • Great! Now all you need to do is check the box next to the names of anyone you think would be nice enough to listen to my presentation.

  • THEY DO NOT HAVE TO BUY ANYTHING! Every demo helps

    • students: and counts toward my scholarship!

  • Just keep checking people all the way through your contacts and when you get to the bottom, BEFORE you press "Share", let me know how many you selected so I can update my sponsorship list.

    • (wait; DON'T INTERRUPT THEM; sponsorship list can be found on your copy of the Training Workbook)


After they say they're finished:

  • Awesome Mrs. _____! Before you click the Share button, can you tell me how many it says you selected in the blue box?

    • (thank them, ask for more; get them to the next sponsor level)

  • Thank you, Mrs. ____! That’s a big help… Just as a reminder, every 10 recommendations you give me means you become a sponsor! Once I have 50 sponsors, I get a (scholarship/free piece of Cutco) from my manager! Do you think there's any way you can think of ___ more to check off who might be nice enough to see me so that you can be a (sponsor/double sponsor/etc.) of mine? Again, they DO NOT have to buy anything :)

    • If yes: THANK YOU SO MUCH! By the way, my record is ____(#), think you can beat that?

    • If no: No worries! THANK YOU SO MUCH for those ____(#)!

  • Okay now go ahead and click the "Share Contacts" button at the bottom.


STEP 2: Text introductions

After they've gone through all their contacts:

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH Mrs. _____, you have no idea how much this means to me. This last part will just take a minute, but it helps me out so much! It’s a lot easier when people know I’ll be calling them and it’s pretty awkward if they don’t! Could you just send a quick text to introduce me to them?

  • All you have to do is press the "VIEW SHARED" button in the top right (wait)

  • Now press the “INTRODUCE” button next to the first person’s name you recommended (wait)...

  • Now press the “CREATE MESSAGE” button (wait)...

  • Now press send! I’ll wait to see the text come through on my end, so we know it worked! (wait)...

  • Great! It went through. That helps me so much for them to know who I am before I reach out.

  • Lastly, you’ll press “INTRODUCED” on the bottom of the app to confirm you introduced them to me.

  • Just do that for each person you recommended and then we’re good to go! (Wait until all texts are sent)


STEP 3: Qualifying MACs

  • Thank you SO MUCH for that, Mrs. _____. By the way, were any of the people you recommended to me NOT married, age 30-60, and own a home?

  • Great! Thank you! That helps me a ton!

    • (VectorImpact; "Prospects" -> tap customer’s name -> linked referrals -> change icons -> repeat for each referral)


STEP 4: Taking Notes for "Best 5/Best 10," etc.

  • If you were me and you were in a big contest like I'm in right now, out of the people you sent me, who would be the first ___ (5, 10, etc.) you would want to show? (take notes for rapport nuggets later!)

  • How do you know them?

  • What's the last big life event they've had in their family: baby, birthday, wedding, vacation, etc.?


STEP 5: Sendoff w/ opportunity for more referrals in the future

  • Thanks again Mrs. _____... You may end up thinking of some more people in the next few weeks or you may run into someone who says they want Cutco... So anytime that happens you can just pop open that app and send more contacts! It will sync up automatically and let me know who referred them to me.

  • I cannot thank you enough ______. Without you, there’s no way I would be able to hit my goals.

  • You can close out of that app now. Have a great day/night! Thanks again!

That would be awesome (Name)! I appreciate you wanting to help me. However, I know you're REALLY BUSY & I’d hate to have to call you while you’re with family or at work. And, without referrals, I can’t do any more demos. By the way, as a reminder, they don’t have to buy ANYTHING. So, if we could start with 1-2 off the top of your head now, and then send me the rest later it would really help me out. So, who are 1-2 people that you think are nice?


Don’t Know That Many People/Anyone

It’s totally fine, especially since I get paid just to show it to them, even a few REALLY helps! I get credit even if nobody buys. So, who are 1-2 people that you think are nice?


Don’t Like to Give Out People’s Names/Call Them First

Of course! I actually have all of my customers send their friends a heads-up text to make sure it would be okay that I call. I wouldn't want to see them if they aren't interested. And I promise it will just be me reaching out to them. So, who are 1-2 people that you think are nice?
